while we were in texas, i had the chance to photograph my sister in law -
or “sister in LOVE” as i like to call her – and her amazingly beautiful family.
we used a family quilt- made by our great grandmother, mama woods. the colors are so bold and beautiful on this piece, which i totally loved. but more importantly, i just really love the very nature of quilting. a quilt says so much don’t you think? it’s such a beautiful demonstration of the randomness and scattered pieces of our lives, many that we might not find beautiful – when they stand independently- but when merged together to form a uniform piece- they create harmony and true beauty. (that might possibly be the longest run on sentence ever!) anyway, such a symbolic demonstration of family- and how we are stitched together, coming from different places-
marked with our own history and story-uniquely crafted – merging together to form a lasting bond.
i’m so blessed by my husband’s family- i’m so grateful for each piece of our quilted journey- the lord has knit us together over these past 12 years of our marriage. a beautiful- colorful blanket of love.
so before i go and get any more sappy on you- how about a few pictures already….

isn’t my niece CRAZY CUTE!!! i’d like to pinch her checks- aunts get to do that from time to time- you know?

and lastly- some of my favorite ladies in the entire world!!!
i miss you already

it was such a sweet morning with these darling siblings
i’m finally getting caught up on client work.
hip hip hooray!!!
my kids are back in school and we are getting into a groove. i’m sad to see summer end-it was a great one, but as usual, a little too short!

so darling!!!
just before i headed out of town i got to work with the sweetest (or is it most sweet?) couple.
anyway- they were so great to wait on their client gallery until i got back from my two week vaca to texas.

did i mention she has some crazy amazing hair? seriously epic hair! you’d think i turned on a wind machine for this shot…

i LOVED shooting at church street station! we had a beautiful night!!!
and lastly- my fav, from lake eola park (a true icon to orlando)

just a quick note to say: “yes i know i’ve droped off bloggin world.” we have been in texas for the last two weeks- catching up on some much needed time with our extended families.
on another note, if you are a blog subscriber or checked out the blog at any point last week, you may have noticed some random pics on the blog. it appears that a hacker got into my blog, and deleted about 50 post
annoying and frustrating. but the blog is back to normal now, thanks to my high tech assistant, i mean husband.
and we are back in town and getting into a groove again.
check out this little beauty

oh sweet lovie dovie
isn’t he the most darling little thing?! here is a little sneak peak for mom and dad

and a little drumb roll for my favorites {i just loved so many, but for the moment, i think these two are my favorites}

on a side note: i’ll be heading to texas (houston area) for the next few weeks.
if you are interested in booking a photo shoot email me at melodydowdy@yahoo.com
{and special thanks to debbie from grant bly house for being so gracious and letting us crash her amazing late 1800′s porch this morning!}
this family is so special to me. they were one of my very first clients a couple of years ago, down in winter park.
they believed in me and my rocky talent from the beginning- they have given me a million referrals over the past couple of years
(even when i wasn’t all that great). and for that, i’m so very grateful.
i photograph them twice a year, and each time i see them. their kids get cuter and cuter… if that is even possible!

they are the sweetest!
